YOUR SKI AREA
The size of the undeveloped head of the valley gives you that slow travel feeling that prevails beyond mass tourism
Family Park GO! beginners area is located in a wonderful place for the whole family, for action and to chill out. In winter there are the sled dog world championships in Sportgastein and in spring “Palmen auf den Almen” a kind of Brazilian festival in the snow. The Gastein Alpine Road between Bad Gastein / Böckstein and Sportgastein offers an adventurous panorama. Once in Sportgastein, you will find a large parking lot at the foot of the valley run from the Goldbergbahn. This parking lot extends to our children's area, which is next to the restaurant Valeriehaus.
Freeride Mekka and recrational nature 1600m - 2700m
In the spectacular core zone of the Nature Reserve, Hohe-Tauern you will find Sportgastein. The alpine road to Sportgastein has fantastic scenery and it is never a problem finding a place to park your car.
Here you will find the Valeriehaus, which is a beautiful mountain restaurant with a long tradition and very friendly hosts. Behind the Valeriehaus you will find our GO Kids Park! Our ski school beginner’s area has a great view and a lot of snow. Sportgastein is a beautiful Family Chill Zone. It contains really nice crosscountry and hiking routes and for the kids there is a toboggan run behind the restaurant.
From the top of the Mountain "Kreuzkogel" you can ski the wide slopes or leave them to ski the great Freeride area. We recommend one of the three ski routes "Golden Powder", "Golden Rush" and "Golden Ride".
Stubnerkogel with a suspension bridge and the skulptural viewing platform
Stubnerkogel is the most visited mountain in Bad Gastein. Via Stubnerkogelbahn you can ski to Angertal. Here you have one of the longest descents in Salzburg. If you are beginner, you must be careful, when you ski from the top direction Bad Gastein; sometimes the steep parts are icy. The same if you ski down to Bad Hofgastein, the last bit is often icy. Near the Valley station of Stubnerkogelbahn there is a chairlift, “Übungslift Rossalm,” an exercise lift to Rossalm, which brings you to a nice slope for slightly advanced skiers. Rossalm is a modern Alpine hut with a nice terrace and easy to reach for less experienced skiers. Skiing from Stubnerkogel direction Bad Hofgastein, you find some good slopes and a long run down to Angertal. located in Angetal you find Gasti Snowpark, wich is a good practice area for beginners wich also belongs to the Gasteiner Lifts. This is the most visited beginner's area in the Valley of Gastein. Due to this, there are usually many people. From her you can ski to Stubnerkogel with the “Senderbahn” or to Bad Hofgastein with the "Kaserebenbahn.” But be careful when going to Bad Hofgastein, because the lift back to Bad Gastein closes early. No huge problem, usually you can take the ski bus back to Bad Gastein. If you are in a hurry or want the comfort af a Taxi, here is a number of a neat Taxidriver +43 664 54 63 963 (Walter Hochreiter).
Graukogel 1078m - 1956m. 877 vertical meters - 4.5 Km skiing on smooth nature snow
Within the adventurous and cozy Swiss Pine woods, you will find the absolute best insider tip in Bad Gastein. Due to the great snow conditions, the worldcup race, "Sliberkrugrennen" was held here in 1958. The cozy ”Graukogelhütte” at 1956m, is right at the exit of the top chair lift (Graukogel Lift Sektion 2). The local cuisine with homemade pastries is outstanding.
From here, you come directly to a great blue slope with a nice T-bar lift, Reichebenlift. One of the insider slopes, where the local kids from the ski club love to train because of the natural snow and calm wind.
On the way back down, you will find the Mittlestation at 1470m. Here you will find a very nice alpine hut with a fantastic view over Gastein Valley, the “Graukogelalm“ perfect for a stop and a small rest at the end of a beautiful ski day. From here you can ski all the way down directly to the car park and bus stop. Go slowly when you ski the last bit of the valley run – its just nature snow.
